Our faith

We believe and trust in God, who loves us all.

We believe and trust in Jesus, who showed us what love means.

We believe and trust in the Holy Spirit, who helps us to love in return.

fairtrade-logo-100Woodstock Methodist Church is proud to be a supporter of the Fairtrade movement with its aim of putting justice at the heart of world trade and ensuring that everyone gets a fair deal for the things they produce and the work they do.

Wherever possible, we use fairly traded goods on the premises (eg. for our tea, coffee and biscuits), and also have a Fairtrade stall every Sunday morning. Although it is good that an increasing number of stores stock fairly traded goods, and this should be encouraged wherever possible, our Sunday stall remains a useful resource for the items that were otherwise forgotten or unavailable elsewhere. It also helps some of our youngsters develop their selling techniques!

Prayer for the Week

Solemn silence now surrounds us
as we stand in memory.
Why should evil lead to conflict?
This eternal mystery
troubles hearts and stirs the conscience,
urges us to think again;
face the curse of condemnation,
yet reduce this searing pain.

For the sound of war still thunders
through our planet, on this day.
Every hour new victims suffer,
even as we meet to pray.
God, beyond our understanding,
peace seems far beyond our reach;
move us on to new solutions
through that active love you teach.
